Peched Raw downs FR Spoilers in Super League

National Basketball League (NBL) champions Peched Raw nailed its second win as they disposed of arch rival FR Spoilers, 86-84 Wednesday night in the ongoing 2013 National Basketball League (NBL) Super League at the Palau National gym.

After taking a 76-59 lead going into the fourth quarter, Peched Raw saw their advantage melt down as the Spoilers turned to their run and gun style of play. But Peched Raw, coached by Rayson King, kept their composure till the end despite being outscored by the Spoilers 10-25 in the final canto.

The game could have gone into over time as Lester Mendoza was fouled with barely 6.6 seconds left in the clock with the score at 86-84. Mendoza then failed to sink his free throws and the ball fell into the hands of Peched Raw as they wind down the clock to escape with the win.

Douglas Schmidt carried the scoring chores for Peched Raw with 32 points as he was backed up by teammates Sunshine Soalablai and Traxx Mark who finished the game with 18 and 13, respectively.

On the other hand, Robert Saunders topscored for FR Spoilers with 19 as Coco Gonzales and Mendoza chipped in 17 and 15, in that order.
