Ngatpang, Peleliu snares win in basketball

Team Ngatpang and Peleliu are currently tied in the team standings after taking their third win after beating their respective rivals in the ongoing men’s basketball of the 2013 Belau Games held at the Palau National gym.

Team Ngatpang displayed their trapping defense as the compelled Ngiwal, 81-53. Ngatpang showed their might in their defense that dismantled the Ngiwal defense and went on for the win.

On the other hand, Peleliu showed their silent kill as they outscored Ngarchelong, 94-79. The win placed both teams on top of the leader board with identical 3-0 win-loss record, respectively.

In other games, Sonsorol won over Ngeremlengui, 92-83 while Melekeok defeated Ngardmau, 71-66.

In the distaff side, Ngatpang nailed also their third win at the expense of Kayangel, 80-39 while Ngaraard showed dominance as they also notched their third victory beating Sonsorol, 62-35.

Games resume today with Koror versus Kayangel (men) at 11 a.m. followed by the Peleiu-Airai (men) tussle at 12:45 p.m. afternoon games will feature Ngeremlengui against Hatohobei (men) at 2:30 p.m. as Koror meet Kayangel (women) at 4:15 p.m. while Ngaraard will take on Sonsorol (men) at 6 p.m. the main game will feature Ngatpang taking on Ngaraard (women) at 7:45 p.m.

Saturday schedule will have Melekeok against Ngatpang (men) at 11 a.m.; Koror versus Ngaraard (men) at 12:45 p.m.; Hatohobei taking on Kayangel (men) at 2:30 p.m.; Airai meets Ngarchelong (men) at 4:15 p.m. Ngiwal faces Ngardmau (men) at 6 p.m. while Ngatpang will test Koror (women) at 7:45 p.m.

Sunday games will feature Ngaraard versus Ngeremlengui (women) at 11 a.m.; Peleliu against Ngiwal (men) at 12:45 p.m.; Kayangel vs. Sonsorol (men) at 2:30 p.m.; Airai vs. Melekeok (men) at 4:15 p.m.; Ngaraard vs. Hatohobei (men) at 6 p.m.; Ngatpang vs. Ngardmau (men) at 7:45 p.m.  By Peter Erick L.
