WU beats Bulls in FBL Sunday

Team Western Union made their run the third quarter as they outscored and beat the Ilocandia Bulls, 95-72 Sunday in the 2013 season of the Filipino Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

Taking a 37-32 lead at the end of the first half, Western Union unleashed a 31-19 run to establish a 68-51 advantage. Western Union then muscled their way inside the paint as they dismantled the Bulls defense and went on to win the game.

Dennis Castro led the charge for Western Union with 27 points as teammate Ronald Magcalas chipped in 25 as they now sport a 7-2 win-loss record sharing the spot with the Junior Nationals.

On the other hand, the Bulls suffered their first setback of the season despite the 20 point production from De Jesus. The loss gave the Bulls a 7-1 tally in the team standings.

Meanwhile, Raymund Tan drilled 20 markers as he lifted the Hanpa Cardinals past the PRA Chopper, 76-75.

In other games, Junior Nationals beat Surangel Stars, 91-76 while RP Rangers won over Jaguars, 93-57.

Games will resume on June 9 with FR Spoilers versus Hanpa Cardinals at 11 a.m. followed by the RP Rangers-PNQ Rams tussle at 12:30 p.m. as Liquid Skyy meets PRA Choppers at 2 p.m. while Ilocandia Bulls face the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m.

Games are supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF). This year’s FBL League is supported by ATT Bar and Restaurant, HE Automotive, Palasia Hotel, Palau Royal Resort, Surangel and Sons Company, FR Construction, Engrs.
