Rivals upset Red Storm in IP&E ABL

Team Ngermid Rivals had their hands full as they scored an upset against Mesang Red Storm, 77-66 Wednesday night in the ongoing IP&E Amateur Basketball League at the Palau National gym.

Taking a 42-33 lead at the half, the Rivals settled down with their defensive prowess as they kept Mesang Red Storm at bay and prevented any comeback. The Rivals survived a 20-11 run from the Red Storm as they complimented their fourth quarter rally with a 24-13 run to take the win.

Ody Yalap led the Rivals with 20 points as teammate King Ngiraboi chipped in 17 markers while Tats topscored for Mesang Red Storm with 18 on the losing end.

In other games, WCC Hammers drubbed Bullets, 164-50; Nationals 17 and Under won over Melngoes, 102-75; Aimeliik Rainers downed Melekeok Salty Boys, 63-31; PCC Mesekiu defeated Breakers, 79-62; Meda stunned WCC Hammers, 64-61; Mercury Optimax escaped with a 71-70 win over Ididers; Papago Smooth routed Matakui, 54-40; and Ksau Imaging Solutions beat Bullets, 98-74.

Coaches, team representatives and managers are reminded that there will be a meeting on December 3, 11:30 a.m. at the Palau National gym and attendance is a must.

Games will resume tonight with Ranchers versus Airwaves at 6 p.m. while Cardinals will meet PCC Mesekiu in the main game at 7:30 p.m.

Monday night games will have Aimeliik Rainers against Blue Shark at 6 p.m. as Melwert will face Ksau Imaging Solutions at 7:30 p.m. while Matakui will be pitted against Mercury Optimax in the main game at 9 p.m.
