FBL resumes on Sunday

With all the confusion fussing around, the organizing committee confirmed that there will be games this Sunday as the 2012 season of the Filipino Basketball League resumes at the Palau National gym.

The confusion stormed as the schedule furnished to all teams stated that no games were set for July 22 as it was set aside from the supposed All Star Weekend. However, the organizing committee could not finalize their program for the supposed All Star Weekend and lately announced that games for July 29 will be played this Sunday.

The organizing committee also stated that they announced the changes but team representatives and coaches said that they were not informed of the changes and that no member of the committee, FBL chairman Joseph Torres, were present last Sunday to announce the said changes in the schedules.

In a text message, FBL chairman Joseph Torres said that there was a mistake on the dates in the schedules that they disseminated and added that games will continue in the second round.

“There was just a mistake on the dates, but games will continue in the second round. If they look on the schedule, we will still follow the order of the games, they will have just to disregard the dates on them,” Torres explained.

Games will open this Sunday with the Master’s League featuring D’Originals taking on FR Spoilers at 11 a.m. in Game Two of their play off series. D’Originals lead the series with a 1-0 count and a win will arrange a meeting with 9-Ball Friendsters, who last week pounded Ocean View/PCGM, to advance to the championship round.

Second game pits team Choppers against the Ilocandia Bulls at 12:30 p.m. as the Jaguars will face Rams/Guardians at 2 p.m. while Western Union meets MJ Rangers in the main game at 3:30 p.m.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
