Peched meets Spoilers for 2012 IP&E NBL finals

Defending champion Peched Raw will stake its crown when they face FR Spoilers for the 2012 season of the IP&E National Basketball League (NBL) played at the Palau National gym.

Peched Raw gained a spot in the finals after beating the Islanders, 79-65 in Game Two of their best of three semis series Tuesday night. With the win, Peched Raw closed their series with a 2-0 count. Douglas Schmidt Jr. led the charge for Peched Raw with 17 while John Stills finished with 20 on the losing side.

On the other hand, FR Spoilers bested a tough 4x4 Wheelers, 92-83 in Game Two to also close their own best of three series with a 2-0 tally. Michael Bombita paced the Spoilers with 24 while Sunshine Soalablai topscored for 4x4 Wheelers with 23 on a losing cause.

Game One of the finals will be played Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. following the consolation game between 4x4 Wheelers against the Islanders at 6 p.m.

Game Two of the series will be played Friday at 7 p.m. and Game Three (If necessary) will be on July 9 at 7 p.m.

The tournament, which is supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation (PBF), is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program. Any violators will be banned from participating. For more information call Topps at 488-4491.  By Peter Erick L. Magbanua (Island Times News)
