Nationals win 4th of July cagefest

The National squad showed grace under pressure as they went on to beat team Benfold, 32-23 to win the 4th of July Basketball tournament held Wednesday at the Palau National gym.

Down 4-11 in the early goings of the first half, the Nationals used their speed to break down the Benfold defense and take a 20-18 lead. Then the Nationals used the same game plan in the second half as they broke loose from the tight defense of team Benfold to sail for the win.

In the consolation game, Benfold 1 won over Sea Bees team, 15-13.

A total of five teams saw action in the one day tournament in celebration of the 236th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America namely Benfold teams 1 and 2, Sea Bees, Wakers and Nationals.
