D’Originals, Spoilers beat foes in FBL

Team D’Originals and FR Spoilers showed dominance as they nailed separate victories over their foes in the ongoing 2012 season of the Filipino Basketball League and Master’s League, Sunday at the Palau National gym.

D’Originals surged on a fourth quarter rally as they went on to drub team 9-Ball Friendsters, 81-59. Leading 52-46 going into the last quarter of the game, D’Originals spurted a 29-13 run led by veteran skipper Jimmy Domingo and Jojo Marino as they put the hopes of 9-Ball away for good and nail the win.

D’Originals are looking to regain their title in the Master’s League as they now take a 2-0 win-loss record with Domingo leading the scoring chores with 16 points and Marino adding 13 while Sonny Jacinto topscored for 9-Ball Friendsters with 11 as they fell to 1-1 in the team standings.

On the other hand, defending champion FR Spoilers repulsed the Hanpa Cardinals, 88-68 to post their third win. From the opening tip off FR Spoilers dominated and set the paced of the game.

Michael Bombita led the scoring department for the Spoilers with 17 as they are now 3-0 while Johnson Sicat and Phillip Maniago paced the Cardinals with identical 12 markers, respectively as they suffered their third setback for a 1-3 tally.

In other games, Western Union beat the Jaguars, 82-62 while Surangel and Sons defeated Rams/Guardians, 72-55.

Games resume on April 8 with the Ilocandia Bulls versus Hanpa Cardinals at 11 a.m. followed by the Ocean View/PCGM-FR Spoilers tussle in the master’s league at 12:30 p.m. as Western Union will meet Rams/Guardians at 2 p.m. while the Choppers will face the Jaguars in the main game at 3:30 p.m.
