Kabong, Stingers nail win IP&E ABL

Team Kabong and Stingers showed determination pays off as they fend off separate opponents in the ongoing 2012 season of the IP&E Amateur Basketball League (ABL) at the Palau National gym.

Kabong started strong in their game and showed consistency as they went all the way to beat B.O.G., 77-70. After taking a 15-14 cushion in the opening quarter, Kabong then found their shooting range as they outscored B.O.G. with a 24-15 output in the second to take a 39-29 lead at the end of the first half.

After that it was all Kabong all the way. Luke Wilter paced Kabong with 17 points while Melengi Uchel topscored for B.O.G. with 19 on the losing end.

On the other hand, the Stingers went back to its winning ways this time beating Surangel Kings, 98-91. Douglas Schmidt Jr. led the scoring chores for the Stingers with 31 followed by John Luis Junior with 26 and Ziske Asanuma with 21.

Reid Una Rikrik topbilled for Surangel Kings with 28 with Arnold Undencimo backing him up finishing with 24 but was not enough to fuel a comeback.

In other games, Spoliers drubbed Ngerkesoaol, 127-92; Mesang Red Storm beat the Cardinals, 72-62; PPR Shark Attack downs Dngeronger Bullets, 70-69; Ngerkesoaol beat the Breakers, 75-53; Ranchers won over B.O.G., 71-55; Nationals route Ididers, 82-68; and 4x4 Wheelers defeated On Fire, 90-61.

Games resume tonight with 4x4 Wheelers versus Kabong at 6 p.m. while Spoilers takes on Mesang Red Storm at 7:30 p.m. as B.O.G.  meet the Airwaves at 9 p.m. Feb. 8 Ikelauans will face Ididers at 6 p.m.
