KSHL CHAMPIONSHIP TO NGERMID RIVALS

In Friday’s semi finals, the smaller Peched Reds team struggled to stay with the extra height of Ray Rumong and the scoring power of Marvic Ngchar and Shonty Ubedai of Ngermid.   But stay they did and had the Ngermid coaching staff rotating players to try to keep their stars from fatiguing as Peched made surge after surge to get on even terms. In the end the extra height and rebounding power of Ngermid saw them hang on to win by 66-63.

In the second semi final the equally undermanned Echang South Coast team started poorly against Meda and let their opponents score 12 points before posting their first score. While South Coast managed to draw within 1 point by the first break and then lead by 2 points at half time, the continuing fight to play catch up basketball took its toll in the third quarter and Meda managed to maintain their 6 point three quarter lead to win 71-62.

In the Championship game both teams came out playing “Palau basketball style” and”run and gun” was played throughout the whole game. While this excited the fans who loudly supported their respective teams it did not allow for either team to control the game and by games end it was more a matter of which team would manage to turn the ball over less to have a chance the win. For Ngermid Rivals their main scorers in Marvic Ngchar and Shonty Ubedei had 33 and 25 points respectively while big Ray Rumong chipped in his usual 24 points. Meda’s prolific scorer, RB Doarado had a game high 35 points in a losing cause and CJ Olkeriil got 27.

In the Consolation Final it was Peched Reds who managed to account for Echang South Coast by 77-55.
