At their meeting national coaches reviewed the 2011-2012 NDP and what had been achieved to date.   Discussion was held on the direction of increasing the participation based through the formation of the KSHL junior competitions and all were in favor of what was planned and what had been achieved to date. Discussion was also held on the changes deemed necessary to the senior and elite leagues to advance the standard of senior national players.

The National Junior Squads (15 years and under) for Men and Women were reviewed and the periodization of the program discussed for necessary changes.   One area of concern for coaches was the poor attendance to squad sessions by several players and the coaches will be contacting players and their parents to ascertain the problems involved.   Coaches were generally happy with the progress of the squads, especially the National 15 Years Women’s Squad.

The coaches of the 2009-2011 National Men’s and Women’s Squads have ended their term and applications will be called for these positions for the period 2011-2013. All national coaching positions are appointed for a 2 year period.

The meeting agreed that the NDP was heading in the right direction and while education of the program was still needed among the basketball and general community, it was achieving most of its goals.
