Rudimch Government/Business League: Spiders, Cops beat rivals

Teams Ministry of Education (MOE I) Spiders and Ministry of Justice-Cops continued with their winning ways as they defeated respective rivals in the ongoing 2009 Rudimch Government/Business basketball league at the Palau National gym.

Trailing 34-40 at the half, the Spiders used its defensive prowess to get back into the game as they limited PNCC/PPUC to only 8 points in the third canto as to their 24 markers as they managed to grab back the lead at 58-48.

From there, the Spiders held on to the lead as they nailed their fifth win to tie with MPIIC with identical 5-1 win-loss records. Yutaka Gibbons Jr. led the scoring fray for the Spiders with 23 points while Asailee topscored for PNCC/PPUC with 37 baskets on a losing cause as they sport a 2-4 card in the Government division.

On the other hand, Bolton scattered 26 points as he led the Ministry of Justice-Cops over MOE II, 102-64 as they now take a 5-2 tally in the team standings.

In other games, Koror State Government won over MOH Ngirbelau, 76-58; Fish N’ Fins defeated Surangel and Sons, 83-71; PRR downed Palasia Hotel, 105-93; Cliffside Hotel outgunned Sam’s Sharks, 74-60; Fish N’ Fins outscored PPR Stingray, 64-53; and MOF defeated PNOC Mercury 300, 84-79.

Games will resume tonight with Island Rhythm versus PPR Stingrays at 6 p.m. followed by the PPR Shark Attack-Galaxy Builders tussle at 7:30 p.m. Games tomorrow will feature MPIIC against PTA/SDA at 6 p.m. as MOF will meet MOH Ngirbelau.

There will be no games on October 1 as it is a national holiday in celebration of the 15th Independence Day of Palau. Games will resume on October 2 with PNCC taking on MOE II at 6 p.m. while MOJ Cops will be pitted against MPIIC in the main game at 7:30 p.m.

The league, which is sponsored by Rudimch Enterprises, is a tobacco, alcohol and drug free program and all violators will be banned from participating.
