Eight - The Magic Number for Guam Women's Basketball Team in 2009 FIBA Tournament
The Guam Women's Basketball Team captured Bronze at the 6th FIBA Oceania Basketball Tournament which was held in Saipan. This is the Women's second Bronze Medal. The first one was won ten years ago in the South Pacific Games in 1999.
The team consists of Maree Pelkey, Derin Santos, Kathryn Castro, Ha'Aani Quinata, Joneal Cruz, Rhia Constantino, Brianna Benito, and Raelene Tajalle. Coached by Joe Taitano and Arlene Mad, these women are now gearing up for the East Asian Tournament which is scheduled to happen in December 2009.
