Welcome to our new web page.
The Sunshine Coast Basketball Association was officially approved by Basketball QLD on February 17 2015. This is the result of years of consultation between the existing Associations on the Sunshine Coast. The outcome: The merger of existing Associations: Noosa Cyclones, Suncoast Clippers & Caloundra Heat to join the new entity, the "Sunshine Coast Basketball Association SCBA".
We would like to thank the Sunshine Coast Sports Federation's Benny Pike and Graeme Murphy for their continued support in the process. Also Basketball Queensland's CEO Graham Burns who has provided guidance in the process and engaged their legal team to provide advice around setting up our structure.
The purpose of this merger, to form one united "Sunshine Coast Basketball Association", was primarily about improving the standard of Basketball on the Sunshine Coast. Existing Associations will continue to operate as per usual, becoming affiliated Associations or Clubs under the "Sunshine Coast Basketball Association" banner. All members from these clubs will be registered under SCBA with membership numbers expected to be approx 1300, putting us in the top 5 Associations in Queensland for member numbers.
Stay tuned for exciting developments coming soon including the release of a competition to come up with a unique name for the new SCBA. We look forward to an exciting year in Sunshine Coast Basketball and welcome your contribution and commitment to basketball on the Sunshine Coast.
