HIGHLY-RESPECTED WA football historian, website editor/reporter and photographer Brett Klucznik has joined the Committee of the Football Hall of Fame WA.
"I am honoured to be a asked to be a member of the Committee, particularly now that the Hall of Fame has taken on a new look - with a new logo and the launch of a new association - and there is the promise of exciting times ahead with future induction events and the prospect of establishing a Football Museum," said Brett.
"I know that a Football Museum in Perth has been the ambition of the Hall of Fame for over 20 years, so the prospect of being part of the group that achieves that goal will be very rewarding.
"A specialised museum is something that is long overdue - and I believe that the history of WA football deserves such a showcase for the varied items of memorabilia, many of them of great historical importance."
Football Hall of Fame WA Committee chairman Louis Prospero JP welcomed Brett's addition to the committee.
"We have been trying to get Brett on board for several years. He has vast knowledge of the WA scene of today - and of the past with his intense research into the history of the game," said Prospero.
"He will be a wonderful addition to the group that has been charged with preserving the history of football in WA."
Apart from Prospero (a former NSL referee and former president of the Soccer Administration of WA), Klucznik joins a committee that includes former State women's team captain and broadcaster Penelope Hoath, City of Stirling councillor Elizabeth Re, ex-Azzurri player Alex Vagliviello, WA's leading football historian and author Richard Kreider, ex-journalist Mel Moffat, special projects wizard Keith Brier and former FIFA World Cup finals referee Eddie Lennie OAM JP, who is the Football West representative in the group.
The Hall of Fame Patron is Julian Burt JP, who offers an important link to the foundations of the game in 1896. His ancestors, the Burt Family, were key to officially setting up football in WA.
Perth-born Brett Klucznik has filled many roles with various football outlets in the past 20 years or so, including being the website editor and photographer for Perth Glory for seven years.
He has also been closely linked with the Inglewood United club, being their media liaison officer and official photographer - and he is currently engaged in reseaching and compiling the history of the Inglewood club.
Brett is also the editor and chief author of various web pages, including the popular footballwa.net, which reports on NPL matters as well as WA State League news. He also sources interviews with the many West Australian players currently playing overseas. The website also has important content regarding WA's International players (past and present) and State team player news.
