WA STAR Lisa De Vanna is poised to become Australian football's greatest goalscorer, male or female, at international level.
The 34-year-old flying winger is already the top scorer for the Matildas with 47 goals.
And she is only three behind Socceroo legend Tim Cahill, who is Australia's all-time top football marksman with 50 goals from 108 international appearances over 14 years.
Fremantle-born De Vanna could draw level, or overtake that mark, in the next few weeks when she turns out for the Matildas in the FIFA Women's World Cup, which is being played in France in June/July.
And she could handsomely top the mark in the next few years for, although reaching the veteran stage for a footballer, De Vanna has stated she will continue to make herself available for the Matildas as long as her fitness remains at a high level.
She hopes to be in the mix for the 2020 Olympic Games, to be held in Tokyo, and could still be around for the next Women's World Cup in 2023, the venue which will not announced until March next year.
Australia is one of the nations being considered as host for the 2023 event, along with New Zealand, Colombia, Bolovia, Brazil, Japan, South Africa and South Korea.
De Vanna has already matched Cahill in one international achievement - scoring in three World Cup finals campaigns.
Cahill found the net in three successive finals with two goals against Japan (2006 in Germany), one against Serbia (2010 in South Africa), one against Saudi Arabia and one against Japan (2014 in Brazil).
But his total of five World Cup goals has already been overshadowed by De Vanna, who can boast seven goals in world championship games.
She got four in her first Women's World Cup in China in 2007 - two v Ghana, one against Norway and one against Brazil.
She hit the back of the net again in the 2011 finals in Germany, scoring against Equatorial Guinea, and was on target in the 2015 World Cup in Canada with one against the USA and another against Sweden. She also captained the side in Canada.
Lisa has also played in the finals of two Olympic Games.
She bagged her first international goal when turning out for the Matildas in a group stage game against Sweden in Athens in 2004.
And she found the mark again when scoring against Zimbabwe in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
