Thanks Peter for a valuable contribution

FOOTBALL Hall of Fame WA chairman Louis Prospero has praised the achievements of outgoing Football West chief executive Peter Hugg, who recently resigned from the position.
He particularly lauded Mr Hugg for his contribution in helping to keep the history of the game alive in Western Australia.
Mr Hugg stepped down from his role with Football West on April 15 after six years of overseeing a period of unprecedented growth for WA football. He has moved to Sydney to take up a new position with Football NSW.
Prospero said: "On behalf of the Football Hall of Fame Western Australia committee, I would like to congratulate Peter Hugg on his new appointment in New South Wales.
"Peter has been the first CEO from Football West to sincerely embrace the beliefs and aims of the Football Hall of Fame WA.
"His continual support since the beginning of his term as CEO has made a significant difference to FHOFWA.
"Some changes of note include the naming of major awards for the end of year functions and cup awards in honour of Hall of Fame inductees, which was a valuable acknowledgment of WA's great players of the past.
"He was also helpful in the restoration of past significant trophies that were left in disrepair. Some of these trophies are now proudly being displayed at Football West Headquarters.
"Peter regularly attended our committee meetings and always made major contributions, including suggestions on how a Hall of Fame Museum can be a vital part of any new home for football.
"His sponsorship support for our induction nights and other functions was also much appreciated. He will be sadly missed but will always be invited back to our functions to celebrate our history."
Football West reported on their website that Mr Hugg, who worked previously on preparations for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 2016 Rio Olympics and 2010 Vancouver Winter Games, joined Football West in 2010 and has been instrumental in improving the organisation’s financial and public standing.
“I have always held the view that an executive should look to achieve their particular goals within a seven-year period and I feel the time is right to move on to a fresh challenge,” he said.
“At last month’s Annual General Meeting, we reported that the state of the organisation and, indeed, the game in WA has never been better with more players, more investment and more interest than ever before. It seems an appropriate time to allow a new Chief Executive to build on these foundations.”
He continued: “It’s been a fantastic experience working closely with WA clubs and individuals within the game to achieve common goals. It's also been a period of my life that I will treasure immensely. There have been some great challenges, including some robust negotiations, and I have valued being part of such passionate discussions.”
During Mr Hugg’s service, Football West increased revenue from $3.8 million to a record $6.4 million, while player registrations have grown by 10,000 to 42,000.
The organisation also progressed the Home of Football Business Case to the threshold of receiving financial support from Government, while WA’s first Socceroos match in 10 years was played at a sold-out nib Stadium last September with more matches to follow.
Football West chairman Liam Twigger thanked Mr Hugg for his contribution to the game.
“Peter has done an outstanding job at Football West and has overseen a massive period of growth in the game in WA,” Mr Twigger said.
“He has also done an incredible job raising our profile and building our corporate and community credentials with our government and business stakeholders. The Football West board thanks Peter for his hard work and commitment over the last six years and wish him well with his future endeavours.”
