About us

The Alex Scott and Staff West Gippsland Football Netball Competition was formed in 2017, following recommendations made by the 2016 AFL Gippsland Senior Football Leagues Review.

The inaugural competition consists of 10 member clubs; Bunyip, Cora Lynn, Dalyston, Inverloch-Kongwak, Kilcunda-Bass, Koo Wee Rup, Korumburra-Bena, Nar Nar Goon and Phillip Island that will field teams in four grades of football and six grades of netball.

The competition is administered and governed by AFL Gippsland and Netball Victoria, with assistance from a committee of management.

The inaugural committee of management is made up of the following members:

  • Kylie Debono has been involved in football/netball for a number of years, firstly at Churchill FNC and more recently at Inverloch FNC. Kylie has held many senior roles in Gippsland businesses and is currently the Chief Risk Officer at Latrobe Health Services. She has been a netballer for a number of years at both clubs and has recently held roles as a coach and committee member of Inverloch FNC.
  • Mat Holmes is a well known business owner and Osteopath at Korumburra Sports and Spinal Clinic. Mat has been involved in football/netball and basketball for a number of years, as a player, coach, umpire and committee member. Mat was a committee member of the recent Gippsland Senior Football Review and has a great understanding of the clubs in our region.
  • Adrian Scott is currently the General Manager of Greyhound Racing Victoria’s Warragul site. Adrian has been involved in Gippsland football for a long period of time and will be known more recently for his role as the President of Nar Nar Goon Football Club. Adrian brings with him a wealth of knowledge of sporting bodies governance practices from his roles at GRV and as a volunteer at football/netball clubs.
  • Col Rielly is a retired policeman of 40 years and has been involved in football most of his life. Col has been a player, coach, chairman of selectors, committee member at a number of clubs in the region, including; Dalyston, Korumburra Bena and Kilcunda Bass. Col was a committee member of the recent Gippsland Senior Football Review and has a great understanding of the clubs in our region.
  • Tony Moxey has held senior management roles in the Petroleum industry, RSL and Murray Goulburn. Tony has a long history of involvement in country football in Gippsland. He is a life member of the MDU FNC in the Alberton Football Netball League and had a 3 year stint on the general committee of the Phillip Island Football Netball Club

In November, 2016, AFL Gippsland reached agreement with prominent Gippsland livestock and real estate company Alex Scott & Staff to become the naming rights sponsor for the West Gippsland Football Netball Competition for three years.
