Member Protection Policy

Fencing Victoria's Member Protection Policy Overview

The 2004 Fencing Victoria Member Protection Policy has now been superceded by the 2016 Australian Fencing Federation  National Member Protection Policy, which now includes members of the AFF - including Member Associations. Fencing Victoria, being a Member Association, means we are bound by their Policy

The National Member Protection Policy (“policy”) aims to assist the AFF to uphold its core values and create a safe, fair and inclusive environment for everyone associated with our sport.  It outlines our commitment to a person’s right to be treated with respect and dignity and to be safe and protected from discrimination, harassment and abuse. This policy informs everyone involved in our sport of his or her legal and ethical rights and responsibilities and the standards of behaviour that are expected of them.

This policy was approved by the AFF Board on 20 August 2016. This policy is effective from 1 October 2016 and will operate until amended, repealed or replaced in accordance with the provisions of the AFF constitution.

FV will take disciplinary action against any person or organisation found to have breached this policy or who makes vexatious, false or malicious allegations.

It is important to note that this MPP is only one step in ensuring the protection of members and providing an enjoyable and welcoming sporting environment.

Everyone involved in fencing should familiarise themselves with the policy and, in particular, the types of conduct referred to in the relevant sections so as to minimise the risk of inadvertent breaches of the policy. Coaches in particular should also familiarise themselves with the relevant anti-discrimination and child protection legislation in their State or Territory and, where necessary, obtain appropriately qualified legal advice.

The AFF's MPP can be found at
