MEN's CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK 6 - RETURN OF THE HEAD

Match 1

WARD 77 d INTER BW 42

Once again, Ward was forced to recruit a team after team members were unable to front because of work committments. Legendary RMIT backcourt, Brett Dobson and Paul Meagher joined the party and led Ward to a comfortable win. Dobbo ran circles around the opposition and Meagher nailed 3s from everywhere and finished with a game high 34 points. Inter's Big Nev struggled to receive regular supply of the ball and the guards couldn't just couldn't heat up.

Match 2

AND 1 81 d RICK JAMES ...... BITCHES 69

And 1 yet again knocked off another challenger as they extended their unbeaten streak to 6. RJB were blown out early and were forced to play catchup. Thankfully for RJB, And 1 wasn't as hot from the perimeter as normal and they were able to claw their way back. RJB ran the lanes and it appeared that youth may actually take out the favourites. However, And 1 turned to the inside game of Rob Chapelle who had 14 second half points. Even so, RJB had possession with 90 seconds to go and 5 points down only to pass up an easy 2 and put up a 3 that missed.

Match 3

RESERVOIR DOGS 88 d PRIME TIME 80

In the second close contest of the evening, Prime Time gave the Dogs a scare and then fell short. On the back of LTU's Big V pair, Pete Leimonitis and Arben Tairi, Prime Time looked set to cause an upset. But as they say, let sleeping dogs lie. Johnny Lister woke up and nailed 4 3's in the last 10 minutes to keep the dog's noses in front.

DV OF OLD 100 d YA MUM 37

The whispers that the Head had returned were true and last night Danny Cullinan gave a perfect display of how to basket hang. Against the sorely outclassed Ya Mum, Cullinan set a league record of 63 points on the back of 31 layups. Actually his furthest made shot was a foul shot. Kudos to Booma and Wokka who had close to 15 assists each while feeding the Giant Head!
