NSDSA runs Sydney's biggest winter competition which runs from April to September with games for juniors played in the morning and seniors in the afternoon. All games are played at the one venue at William Cowan Oval/St Ives Village Green.
Winter 2020 Season
With the easing of restrictions on physical distancing and group gatherings, North Shore Softball is planning for a start of the winter softball season very soon. On 10 June, the NSW government announced the Return to Play for all sports from 1 July.
With this in mind, our planned winter start date for our Junior AND Senior competition has now been set for Saturday 4 July.
While this start date is a little later than we had hoped for, it is good to now have certainty for our winter softball competition. The season is planned to run for 11 weeks until 12 September.
NSDSA is committed to keeping clubs and their members regularly updated. Please refer to our Winter 2020 Season page, for updates as information is available, including FAQs to address any questions our members may have.

Looking to play? Here is a brief description of the grades we have in our comp. Ages for the juniors are only a guide. Discuss the best options with your chosen club when you register. All our clubs accept the Active Kids Vouchers.
Batter Up - ages 3 to 5, girls and boys
Introduction to ball skills. Hitting, catching, batting & running around bases. A great place to start.

Teeball - ages 5 to 9, girls and boys
The next step up is teeball. Here players play with age appropriate, modified softball rules, hitting off a tee, wearing protective uniform (helmets, mouthguards, gloves).
Modball - ages 9 to 12, girls and boys
This is the next step up from teeball. Here the players are introduced to a live pitched ball, playing to only slightly modified softball rules.
Softball - Juniors aged 12 to 17, girls
This is where the girls play Softball Australia softball rules.
Games for junior softballers are played in the morning, however there is the opportunity for the older girls (16 - 18) to play in the afternoon comp.
Unfortunately, we do not have grades for boys at this level.
Afternoon Ladies Competition - ages 16 and over
The afternoon competition has multiple grades, appropriate for all abilities.
From A grade (being most competitve) to friendly C grade, there will be a team where you will feel most welcomed. Bring a friend or two!!
