WELCOME TO SOMERSET BASKETBALL

Organisation Statement

The Somerset Amateur Basketball Association was established in 1985 and operates out of the Somerset Indoor Recreation Centre. We are the youngest of eight regional associations competing in the North West Basketball Union in Tasmania. Our association runs comprehensive junior & senior basketball programs both of which have been steadily growing in numbers in recent years. We cater for players as young as six years old through to adults.

 

The stated purposes of our club are as follows:
a)	To foster the development of basketball, particularly junior domestic basketball.
b)	To create an environment in which children and adults have fun in participation of basketball.
c)	To teach basketball skills, rules and strategies to our players.
d)	To model and teach competitiveness with an emphasis on good sportsmanship.
e)	To develop community involvement and appreciation for the importance of constructive and meaningful activities for youth of the area.

 

We are managed by a committee of dedicated volunteers who control all operational aspects of our organisation with the primary aim of achieving the above objectives.
