South Tarawa (TUC) have won both gold medals for men and women, but not without a pretty good fight.

The TUC women came from behind to steal a 1 point win over a well organised Abaiang unit while the boys dominated the centre court and the boards to win by 9 in a high scoring match under lights....

Abaiang and South Tarawa will provide all the action on the Basketball Courts here today as the Grand Finals for men and women go ahead.

TUC are the favourites in both divisions but the sentiments go with Abaiang.

Tab North men and Butaritari women took bronze medals today in the Classification rounds.

Both Grand Finals will be played tomorrow between Abaiang and South Tarawa.

TUC upset Betio in the women's semi final by 82 - 80 to join Abaiang who showed great courage to hold off Butaritari by 1 point 60 - 69.

For the men, TUC stormed into the finals with big wins over Maiana in the quarter Final and Tabiteua North in the Semi Final.

Beru defeated Butaritari 66 - 56 to move to the 5th place playoff with Makin who earlier defeated Maiana 57 - 53.

Beru lost to Marakei in the Quarter Finals as did Makin to the all conquering TUC Tigers.
