Samoa had their best world level netball tournament yet with a hard fought 53 - 50 win over Malawi in the playoff for 5th and 6th place.

Malawi had surprised by finishing third in their Pool and were determined to get into the top five. Samoa were equally determined and hung on despite controlling the Game throughout for a tenacious win.

Fiji had a decisive 69-45 victory over Barbados to finish in ninth position.

In the battle for ninth position Fiji dominated the first half - their defensive combination of Matila Waganidrola and Mere Rabuka making it difficult for Barbados to penetrate the circle.

Fiji scored their first win at the expense of St Vincent and the Grenadines 58 - 44 today.

Fiji won all quarters of this match.

Samoa came out on top to beat Barbados 45-41 in a very tight match this afternoon at the State Netball Centre

Samoa had just too much size and strength for Wales in their preliminary round match and remain undefeated in ther Pool after two matches.

New Zealand were just too strong for Fiji in tonights Games at the State Netball Centre.

New Zealand outscored Fiji in all four quarters to win by 80 - 26.

The first quarter score was 17 - 7 follwed by 24 - 4, 17 - 8 and 22 - 7.

The fourth day of the Netball competition continues at the State Netball Hockey Centre with the on-court action featuring gold medal favourites Australia and medal aspirants Samoa, Wales, Fiji, St Vincent, Barbados and South Africa.

The hosts of the 2007 World Netball Championships, Fiji, lost their first match in the Melbourne 2006 Com Games by a scoreline of 60-41.

Fiji were able to win the third quarter 14 - 11 to keep the crowd alive and show glimpses of their potential.

Samoa Netball Team beat Singapore convincingly by 43 goals

The Fiji Netball team has departed for Melbourne, and for the first time it will have two captains at the helm as mid-court star Unaisi Rokoura and defender Matila Waqanidrola share the responsibility.
