Brisbane Olympic has produced a late winner to defeat Sunshine Coast FC 2-1 in Round 15 PlayStation NPL Women’s Queensland action at the Kawana Sports Precinct on Sunday morning.

Olympic earnt their second win in three weeks courtesy of a dominant display on the Sunshine Coast where they controlled possession and the shot count to come back from an early goal down to claim all three points away from home.

Teyana Bielby handed Fire an early lead with a close-range strike that was fumbled by Jazymn Perin into the back of the net in the opening minutes.

From then on Kristi New asserted herself on the fixture with an impressive display all around the park and was deservedly rewarded with a second-half equaliser following a cutback in the area from Elizabeth Doherty.

An aggravation of an ongoing injury to Fire’s Tegan Buhmann unfortunately resulted in the call for the stretcher, a double blow for an already depleted Fire outfit who were only able to play the remainder of the match with ten players on the pitch due to no substitutes being available to replace Tegan Buhmann.

With tired legs from both sides, it was Lydia Alford who pounced late with a strong run through the midfield and defensive line for a one on one with Fire goalkeeper Shannon Buhmann and finished strongly to cap off a dazzling run that handed Olympic a late winner.

Fire travel to Ipswich in Round 16 to face the bottom of the ladder Western Pride whilst Olympic will play two home fixtures this coming week firstly facing The Gap Women on Wednesday night, followed by SWQ Thunder on Saturday afternoon in a busy week at Goodwin Park.
