FOUR-time premiership winning captain Chris Stewart will play his 100th match for the Deer Park Football Club on Saturday.
Chris joined the club in 2012 from Maribyrnong Park and has since been a part of a special Lions dynasty.
He captained the senior side to four straight premierships, an historic WRFL feat.
Deer Park is again placed on top of the Division 1 ladder and is perfectly poised for another tilt at premiership glory.
Chris has been an integral member of the senior side since he joined the Lion’s den five years ago, he has been named in the Division 1 Team of the Year and has won a club best and fairest.
Deer Park Vice President Matthew Pratt said Chris was a special person and player to have at the club.
“He has grown as a leader since he joined the club,” he said.
“When we made him captain he was really surprised, but he has since captained the side to four straight premierships.
“He has a special place in the clubs history. He is a great leader, he works well with the younger players and his leadership on the field is immense.”
Matthew said Chris’ recent form has also been impressive.
“He has certainly been among our better players, his performance in recent times has been good, he said. “He was instrumental last week.”
