Westfield FFA Cup Preliminary Round 6 fixtures are confirmed for four PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues regional clubs remaining in the draw.
The series of ties marks the penultimate round of the qualification pathway for Queensland clubs as they seek to reach the national Round of 32.
Toowoomba’s SWQ Thunder are the first PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues club in action in Preliminary Round 6 as they travel to the Gold Coast to take on third-tier BLK Premier League outfit Surfers Paradise Apollo on Saturday.
Thunder eliminated Toowoomba community club Willowburn in the previous round, while Apollo advanced courtesy of classic cup upset win over second tier Gold Coast City.
Sunshine Coast FC will also line-up against third-tier opponents the following day when they welcome United Park Eagles from Wide Bay’s Three Cities League on the Sunday.
Fire recorded their first ever Westfield FFA Cup win in the previous round against third-tier Sunshine Coast club Woombye Snakes, while Eagles advanced after eliminating Hervey Bay’s Kawungan Sandy Straits Jets.
The victors in these two ties will then meet in Preliminary Round 7 in the final match of the southern regional qualification pathway to earn a place in the national Westfield FFA Cup Round of 32.
In Cairns, FNQ Heat will take on rivals Northern Fury in the only all-PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues fixture of the round confirmed so far.
The winner of this match will meet the winner of the tie between Rockhampton third-tier powerhouse Frenchville FC and Mackay’s Magpies FC for a place in the national Round of 32.
Heat advanced to Preliminary Round 6 with a comfortable win over Cairns community club Edge Hill United, while Fury also saw off local opposition by defeating Townsville-based Rebels FC.
