1. Will Taylor; the next big thing from the North?
Round 2 signalled the start of the North Shore Bombers campaign for 2016 when they faced UNSW/ES at Mortgage Choice Oval. The Bombers faithful would have been happy with what they saw as the Bombers swept aside the Bulldogs in a comprehensive display of football. One of the real highlights of the day was the performance of young gun Will Taylor. Will Taylor, a member of the Sydney Uni NEAFL Squad has not played a game for the students since joining the outfit in 2015. But that will change this year if Will has anything to say about it with the classy North Shore youngster putting on a great display up forward kicking three goals and getting his name in the bests. This is his highest ever goal tally in senior football to date. The Bombers will be hoping for more of the same this year as Will develops his game.
2. Robbie putting in huge performances for UNSW
UNSW Eastern Suburbs may have struggled early in 2016 but one of the real positives is the great performances of Joel Robbie. Robbie has been in great form of late, with the experienced Bulldog being one of the real shining lights. Joel has been impressive this year appearing in the coaches’ votes twice this year already. Can his output help to lift UNSW/ES this season?
3. Do the UTS Bats have the inform power forward of the Premier Division?
Daniel Breese may just be the inform forward of the competition after bagging 9 goals in the first two rounds of the season. The former Box Hill Hawks and Lilydale man joined the Bats for the 2015 season kicking 32 goals last year but is already on track to top that figure in 2016. The Bats will be hoping for many more bags of goals this year as UTS look to build on their solid start to the season.
4. East Coast boy Turner the real deal?
East Coast claimed their second victory of the season over the students of Saturday afternoon lead by an impressive performance by Stewart Turner. Turner has been in cracking form this year with two best on ground efforts to start the season. The midfielder will be interesting to watch this year and dare we say if he keeps this form up we could perhaps be talking about him in Phelan Medal calculations later in the season.
