Western Pride have drawn on their relationship with local Ipswich community clubs for their two latest recruits for the PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland 2016 season.
Defenders Ronan Geoghegan (pictured) and Corey Lucas link up with Graham Harvey’s side after impressing in pre-season with the club.
Geoghegan, 24, joins Pride from Ipswich City, where he made 19 appearances and delivered two goals in Brisbane’s fifth tier Capital League Two competition in 2015.
He was also part of Pride’s extended squad in their 4-3 pre-season win on Saturday over Brisbane Premier League Champions Peninsula Power.
Lucas, 19, comes from fellow Capital League Two outfit Western Spirit, where he also scored twice in 24 league appearances last season.
Harvey said providing a pathway for local talent remains the raison d’etre of Pride as a club and said both clubs were supportive of their players step-up to the national second tier.
“It’s fantastic that both Ipswich City and Western Spirit have allowed the players the opportunity to trial and, as they have excelled, then been happy for them to push on into the pathway with Western Pride,” Harvey said.
