How has the pre-season been?
Celebrating 10 years of existence is a huge milestone for the club and local community and with the inclusion of our third U9s side for 2015, approximately 200 Auskickers and our newly formed Football Academy, we believe we are on the right track to further success in the near future.
The off season has been challenging at times especially with the introduction of our new FOC. Having consistent player numbers for our older age groups to preseason training has also been challenging which we will overcome as time goes on with our renewed focus on carefully structured quality coaching.
Coinciding with our 10 year Junior Football celebrations, we have successfully united our Netball Club and incorporated our new Sports Club which will enable many other sports to co- exist within the one structured group. With our club exceeding the 700 member mark last season, this was an essential development which we are proud of which also enable us to continue to grow in a manageable way.
What are your expectations for the new season?
Our expectations are always high and season 2015 is no different. We expect our teams to continue to develop and play in the right spirit of the game emphasising fun and enjoyment at all times. After our U18s terrific season in 2014, we will be hoping that this age group can band together and go one step further this year.
We expect our coaches to also develop further under the new guidance of the FOC and the mentoring of Andy Collins (Hawthorn premiership player and current Williamstown VFL coach).
We are also hopeful that we will have player representation in the Western Jets Brad Johnson squad for the first time, which should generate excitement and belief for all members of our football club.
Are there any coaching changes this season?
The FOC was appointed late in 2014 and is a completely new development. We have some fantastic new coaches who complement the coaches who coached last season and will be coaching again in 2015. The new coaches who have been added to our coaching ranks are Michael Virgona U9s, Stephen Harrison U10s and George Abboud U16s. Jason Coghlan will head up the new Football Academy which is another major and essential development within the club.
