Game 1
Banyule Vs Bundoora B
Captain : Xavier
We started slowly, (not uncommon at Banyule M!), but improved as the game went. Towards the end of the second half, the opposition couldn’t get it past halfway. This was a good example of the boys playing to their positions, and staying on their opponent, making it hard for our opposition to play well. The game ended in a draw, which was extremely encouraging, as it was the boys first outing without the encouragement and supervision of Vic and myself on the ground.
Game 2
Banyule Vs Richmond
Captain : Cam
Started slowly, second to the ball, giving away numerous “over the shoulder” free kicks. As the game progressed, we used the open areas of the ground, kicked a number of goals, and had our first win of the season. To see the boys embrace as one in the middle of the ground and celebrate at the end of the game, (even though we don’t score in tackers!), was extremely pleasing.
Game 3
Banyule Vs Camberwell
Captain : Sam
We started better this time, with the whole team involved. We led from start to finish, followed the Coach’s instructions and played some wonderful football. As the final siren sounded, a tired team celebrated another “win” with a wonderful rendition of the team song. Well done to all the boys on their behaviour for the day, and the way they played their 3 games. They represented the club fantastically. Thanks to Brad Bowler for organising and setting up the Banyule kitchen, and for all the helpers. The mail was the day for the BJFC was the best Tackers Day ever. Well done to everyone.
