Congratulations to our Under 18s side who fought brilliantly yesterday to claim the Premiership with a 101-82 win against the Nelson Bay Marlins. The Marlins banner read "Dogs Can't Bite, Dogs Can't Fight.." but they foolishly underestimated the persistent workrate of the dogs all over the ground. The Marlins were left stunned from the start when Coach Newburn started the heavily guarded forward Troy Gordon in the centre to win the ball and charge his way to the forwards to find Jake Hayes running-a-muck in the forward line. Jake Hayes ended the game with 6 goals and Man of the Match. The Marlins will be after a new slogan as unlike their banner stated - it was the Dogs who partied all night. Great Win. Well Deserved.
Congratulations to Ben Hodges who won the BDAFL's Best & Fairest 1st Grade Elliott Davey Medal at the presentation on Wednesday evening. Ben narrowly missed out last year, but took it out easily this year even though he missed 4 or 5 rounds of footy.Congratulations also to Patrick Quinn who was runner-up in the Under 18s Chris Arnold Medal. The Warners Bay Club also won the prestigous Club Championship Award (which is based on points accrued from wins across all grades) and hasn't been won by the club since 1996.
