Last Saturday night players new and old got together at Ray's Boathouse to celebrate the upcoming 2010 season.
As existing players, new recruits, friends and family began to roll in to Ray's Boathouse from 6pm it was pretty clear it was going to be a successful evening. Being welcomed to the patio room covered in Wildcats colours, a plasma TV streaming music and photos from the 2009 season, as well as a merch stand showcasing the Wildcats apparel the place was ready for a party;
"The concept of the evening was something the club exec has had on the "to do list" for the past few years, but time has always seemed to get away from us. This year we had Charles Thompson and Kris McKillop throwing their efforts behind it, and were pivotal in making the night go off" spoke a weary club president, Tim Wilson, on Sunday afternoon.
The intention of the night was to get new recruits familiar with the team and encourage them to talk to some of the senior Canadians as to why they love the game, learn about the rules, and just the general excitement that is footy. With the club running out of 2010 player registration forms before the nights, its definitely something that will be locked into the Wildcat calendar in years to come.
Photos of the event will be uploaded into the multimedia section by the end of the week.
