What a difference a week makes. Last week’s disastrous effort turned into a comfortable and comprehensive win against University this weekend. The Under 18s had a real day out with the team functioning well in all four quarters to put in a confidence boosting effort one week out from the finals.
The first quarter was a tight affair with each team probing the others deference but neither able to break away and the scores were almost level at the break. After the break the Tigers defence had to stand up to pressure from the Students and did so quite well. They were also able to kick a couple of timely goals to trail by only 11 points at halftime.
After the break and a rev-up from the coaches the first 10 minutes was unrelenting pressure form the Tigers – the Students were unable to break out of the defensive 50 and the Tigers managed 4 goals and 8 behinds to take a stranglehold on the game. The Students were unable to score in this term.
In the final quarter the Tigers played confidently repulsing University attacks and applying pressure up front to run out comfortable winners at the end of the game.
This is the sort of effort that coaches are looking for going into the final series and if the Tigers can maintain this kind of form against University at their home ground then they will progress to the semi-finals.

Spencer Greville – an U16 whom showed his class at the higher level
Mitchell Smith – continued his good form and must be a B&F favourite
Taylor Murtha – a second solid effort for the weekend, looked class act in all he did
