“Well, it was another disappointing result but reviewing the game generally there were many more positive signs. The fact we ended up with 17 on the field and no rovers for the last quarter distorted the score in the end as we didn’t have the run that we had for the rest of the game. A stable group is still the answer as we had a good core group of footballers but it is very hard when players are new to the team and the systems that we play.
Chris Gorman played his best game yet and is showing signs of getting his confidence back. Unfortunately, after playing a great game in the reserves, Shaun Denaro popped his shoulder in the seniors and this is possibly the end of his season.
Both ruckman played very well, Tom Ditchburn and John Seccull and will settle into a good combination. Matthew Jones got through the game and will be good in a few weeks when he regains fitness. Michael Sneesby gave us some steel and was in the best group.
Blake Terry and David Ditchburn came into the side and showed some great combinations when given an opportunity late in the game.
In general;
We got our hands on the footy more often than any other game.
More forward 50 entries than any other game.
More tackles than any other game.
More combinations and one example of four linked handballs
There are a lot of positives to work with this week on the track so hopefully numbers will allow this to happen. The work over the last couple of weeks is starting to come through with the boys getting more individual touches at training.”Russell Ditchburn, Reserves coach
