After calling off the game on Saturday, of course the sun came out and our ground at Everton looked immaculate. But it was still very boggy under foot and the swamp in the middle was ready with crocodiles to take care of the unwary. The cricket pitch in becoming a real problem and one that is difficult to manage â keeping it just right for two nights training and then the weekend games is a very touchy business.
But the ground is able to take care of a great deal of rain and we have spent a lot of time and money this year getting it right â so to plug it all up on an extremely wet day was not on. And this would have made it all the more difficult to manage for the rest of the year.
And the Auskick program had also been called off â there was water running across the ground early in the day.
So we have a rescheduled game against Coolangatta on Saturday 18th July at home. Not one player turned up at the ground before 11.15am â the power of the mobile phone is obviously in evidence!!
