The boys in Crimson are back! After a long and cold winter the spring weather brings new life into the Grand River Valley. While the song birds have begun to return, the only noises to be heard on this beautiful Saturday were the Gargoyles' bellows of support and enthusiasm!
The boys, awoken from there winter slumber, were guided by a new coaching staff. As such we are introduced to a fresh and remarkable leadership team:
Head Coach, the infamous Aiden "Macca" McQuoid.
Assistant Coach, the legendary Jeff "Bory" Borysiewcz
Assistant Coach, a true rarity, an actual Australian, Stephen "Dozza" McLeod!
Having been introduced to our stalwart source of guidance and coaching, the first order of business was crowning our team leaders:
Captain: Jacob "Jr." Martin
Assistant Captain: Kyle "Beans" Mundell
With hierarchy established (and might we remark to ourselves: well earned!) the boys were roused to a high energy, well paced pre-season practice! As the Gargoyles broke a sweat and shook the rust off their wings, they found themselves joined by Gargoyles of old: Zack "Savo" MacDonald and Brydon "Shammy" Rayner! A welcome sight for bleary eyes! Not only were the boys joined by several new faces, they welcomed a suprise addition of a Wild Cat, the friendly and skilled Chris "Mo" Moning! The gentle giant "Mo" had our respect as a competitor in the past (and most certainly in the future) but has now gained it as a friend of our fearson heroes.
A hard practice was followed by a few pints, laughter and banter, and as to be expected by our roguish heroes, a friendly wager with long-lasting consequences!
As the sun sets and the Gargoyles close their eyes for a well deserved rest, we remind ourselves that their work has just begun.
Next Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 10:00am - 12:00 the boys reassemble at Budd Park located at 1111 Homer Watson Blvd., Kitchener to continue their pre-season training and continue the unending journey to growth and glory.
