The strong Hornets forward line again proved the difference between the northside rivals, setting up a 10 goal win with a 10 goal first quarter at Everton on Saturday. Despite holding a slight advantage with getting the ball inside 50m over the course of the match, the Tigers had their hands full in containing the big Aspley forwards with 15 goals coming from 2 players. The Hornets exposed another slow start from Mayne showing greater intensity at the contest and were far cleaner with their ball handling. The boys did respond in the second half with Luke and Andrew dominating the centre clearances and providing good service to a wide number of goal kickers however the horse had bolted and the lads whilst pegging back the lead at times, could not stop Aspley from scoring throughout the afternoon as they ran out deserved winners.
The key to improving our performance this week lies in our ability to get the whole squad out on the track and working on our deficiencies from the weekend before we head up to the highway to take on Noosa.
