The Tigers are still smarting after going down to Coolangatta by 5 points at Peak Oval on Saturday. After a testing week on the track following a poor performance last week, the guys were hell bent on redemption. However, it was the Blues who got away to a flyer catching the boys flat footed and racked up a 25 point lead before we even got out of first gear. The Tigers rallied to kick 2 goals late in the quarter but then failed to capitalise with the breeze at our backs in the second heading into the sheds down by 3 goals. Andrew was stopping many attacking raids by the Blues across half back and Browny was providing plenty of run with Cody also doing a good job on his wing. A couple of key changes at half time with Luke moved into defence proving pivotal as we started to get on top with Steiny all over his much vaunted opponent in Wurtova.
The final quarter was set up for a tight finish however we struggled to kick unanswered goals and Cooly – with some favourable umpiring decisions - managed to hang on despite the efforts of Stevo up forward who did a great job after being called up from the reserves for just his 3rd senior game. Jimmy was best afield again – proving damaging across half forward.
The boys will rue the slow start which ultimately cost us the chance of winning on the Gold Coast for the first time in the PHC.
Next week we are away to Surfers Paradise
