After an emotional lead up on the track following the passing of club legend Mick Nolan, the boys played their hearts out against the reigning premiers Palm Beach at Everton last Saturday. To a man every player gave it everything they had and were able to walk off the ground knowing that they had done the club, the supporters and themselves proud. It was pleasing to see the 3 Nolan boys in attendance to watch the Tigers almost pull off the upset of the year, in a match the Mayne boys were committed to playing with true tiger spirit in honouring Mick. Our thoughts are with you boys.
With the scores level at half time PBC did enough in the second half to take the win by 5 goals, despite the efforts of Ferguson, Brown and Morrison who were exceptional in defeat. Simon Northcott and Mark Dennis both had strong games with Simmo kicking 3 and Funky dominating the centre clearances.
After the weekend off we head down to Springwood on Saturday to tackle the Pumas – a team we have never beaten – searching for our 4th win of the year.
Browny selected in Qld Country squad
After performing strongly in the opening half of the year in the PHC, Caleb was picked to represent the Stockmen in the annual clash with Cairns in Townsville. The Stockmen were made up of players from all corners of Queensland including 6 from division one and 10 from the PHC. He was given the shut down job on Cairns’ best forward and did a great job, ending up in the best players list and ensuring selection in the Qld Country squad which was picked after the match. The squad will be trimmed over the coming weeks in preparation for the Australian Carnival in the last week of July. Nice work Brownie!
