Under 10's
Round 5 (19/05/07)
Warners Bay 5.7.37 def Port Stephens 1.0.6
What a difference a week can make in footy. After a disappointing loss the previous week the boys came out with all guns blazing to record a terrific win over a gallant opposition with plenty of smiles all round at the end of the game. All the effort put into tackling practice on Thursday night seem to pay off as the boys hounded their opponents all game and never gave them a chance to find their feet.
Despite the heavy rain late in the week the ground was in pretty good nick which assisted in producing a free flowing game. Along with our improved tackling the long kicking of Joseph, Darcy, Byron and Alex was a major factor in providing us with plenty of goal scoring opportunities.
Our defence was like a huge brick wall that Port Stephens just couldn't breakdown. Drew, Billy, Dylan and Pat were standouts in defence as they chased everything that came their way and continually fed plenty of ball back into the centre zone. Dylan also displayed plenty of the zip zip that was discovered for the first time at training last Thursday.
Zac and Andrew played their best games of the year as they simply backed themselves every time and had a red hot go. They were into everything for the whole forty minutes and were rewarded for their effort by receiving our first Red Frog encouragement awards for the year - Well done boys.
Our mighty Auskick brigade of Tom, Sam, Ryan and Eden are developing at a rapid rate and are clearly showing that they are not out of place against many of the older boys. They continue to bring to every game the same level of enthusiasm that they display every Thursday night at training.
Well done once again to all the boys - it was a great effort and hopefully we can continue on in the same way against Singleton next week.
Red Frogs Encouragement Award: Andrew and Zac
Goals: Darcy 2, Byron 1, Andrew 1, Alex 1.
