Round 2 vs Maitland - Under 12's
Final Score: Warners Bay 22-16-148 def Maitland 2-2-12
Another good win against new club the Maitland Saints, on a boggy track down at Bulldog Stadium.
Maitland were behind the eight ball from the start, being short of players. It worked that we would give them a player each ü. The Bulldogs dominated in the centre from the 1st bounce but the forwards took some time to come to terms with the sloppy conditions which crowded the forward line, making it difficult to kick goals. Sam had a great ü for the saints, getting many possessions.
Many changes were made and the boys found themselves again playing in unfamiliar positions. They adapted well and although still a bit crowded the forwards managed to kick many goals. Adam played full back for the opposition (he was happy about that) and was in the thick of the action.
With the forward line open the 3rd quarter was all the Doggies. Luke was terrific, but he played for Maitland.
The last quarter, with a very inexperienced line up, the boys still put a great effort, although allowing the Saints to kick their goals. This quarter was dominated by one player, Liam and he played for the Saints. Congats to Callum for a Great first up game for the dogs.
We can't get too carried away about this one, but still a very good win.
Best. Rowan. Pat. Callum. Jack., John, Josh D.

On a rain soaked Seaman Oval, Friday nights game was always going to be a tough slog. Our team controlled the game from the outset and were finally rewarded for their fierce attack on the ball. Great stuff team!!!
The most pleasing aspect of our first win was the combined efforts of our less experienced players.
Michael Holmes (No 34) was outstanding at back pocket in only his second game of AFL and took some very important marks in the last line of defence. Michael was recognised by his team mates for his superb efforts picking up this weeks Players/Player award. Daniel King (No 21) is another of our new guys who starred on the half forward line, kicking 2 spectacular goals and setting up Jack Dawson (No 14) for an important goal. Daniels second "mid air" kick goal won this week's "Doggie award". Nick Smith (No 15) small in height but big in courage was at the bottom of most packs and picked up many possessions against much taller opposition. Well done Nick!
Daniel Williams (No 11) performed exceptionally well at fullback and was really important for W/Bay, often clearing the ball over 50 metres with his booming long kicks into the centre of the ground.
Through the week we added a 3rd captain Rowan Fromberg (No 33) to our leadership group based on his strong work ethic at training. Rowan played how he trains - hard at the ball, confident and extremely positive in his encouragement to team mates. Great work Friday night Rowan!
Other players to receive parent votes - Tyler Clarke (No 10) best on ground by a long way, Paul Hunter (No 2), Michael Vo (No 18), Mitch Sutton (No 32) who were all important in ensuring we had a win.
A coaches special mention this week to Dylan Garland (No 30) who is still finding his feet with AFL but improved significantly from his first game last week and showed great tenacity never giving up in tough wet conditions. Great work by Brett McCann in running the interchanges this week. Players on the bench where never there longer than 7 minutes and team changes certainly flowed a lot smoother than the first week.
Finally, a big thanks from the coaching group to the 4 players (Ash, Mitch S, Michael H, Cassie) who helped out with evening up for 1 qtr. Also, thanks to all parents who helped out including Bevo Snr (runner), Brett Dawson (oranges and a very wet boundary ump), Geoff Kent (money collection and goal ump), Lee Cross (canteen), Margaret Cumpson (votes). We still have a couple more jobs on game day/night, so if you are able to help out please let us know. Thanks again to Luke Roach U12's who also helped out running the boundary. Apologies if we missed recognising someone.
