The Wildcats travelled to Humber College South on a beautiful sunny day to play some footy.
First up, the Women took on the High Park Demons. With the club short on numbers, the Demons matched numbers and the game was played 10 aside. The Wildcats jumped ahead to an early lead with 5 goals kicked in the 1st quarter. With continual pressure placed on the Demons, the Wildcats continued to kick goal after goal. The game was controlled brilliantly by the players in the middle, rarely allowing the ball to come out of the forward 50.
Leading the way with goals was Jackie with 4, Liz and Polina with 3 each, Danielle and Erika with 2 each and Emilie and Lise with 1 apiece. This combined for a score of 16.20.116 to 0.0.0. The large amount of behinds indicate room for improvement in goal kicking. And not to be forgotten is the back line who shut out the Demons on the scoreboard.
Best on Ground goes to Lise with her brilliant play on the wing and the Hard Hat goes to Jackie who not only kicked 4 goals but controlled the middle with her smart play.
The Men forfeited their game against the Toronto Eagles due to low numbers. They then played a friendly against the Eagles sharing some players. The Men's BOG goes to Travis and the Hard Hat goes to Greg.
With Round 5 over, the Women have 3 wins and 0 losses. The Men have 1 win and 4 losses.
Next up in Round 6 the Men take on the Etobicoke Kangaroos at noon on Saturday June 27th at Mohawk Park. The Women have a bye but many players will be partaking in the East selection game at Humber College at 4 pm in the hopes of being selected for the Northern Lights or Midnight Suns to play in the Parallel Cup. Whether you're in Hamilton or Toronto, come out to support your Wildcats!
