Today we played St Marys W at Greensborough Park in perfect sunny conditions. Nathan Sia led our boys out as captain and we welcomed back Tom Hayes from his European adventure and Jackson Keating for his first game for the mighty Bears. Jackson joined a rare group kicking the first goal of the game with his first kick (and possession) for the club, one of 2 goals that he scored in his debut game. This set the tone for the rest of the game where we played a terrific brand of footy built on contested ball winning prowess, solid defensive structures, and long kicking down the corridor to our dangerous forwards. In the end we ran out convincing winners 7.9.51 to 2.2.14.
Goals: Jackson Keating 2, Charlie Vincent 2, Jack Nursey 1, Matt Roumeliotis 1, Mitch Thompson 1.
Best: Matt Roumeliotis, Mitch Thompson, Noah Edgar (awarded the medal by St Marys for best opposition player for a superb game on the wing where he showed great pace and poise - great game Noah!!!), Jackson Keating, Riley Luber, and Billy Stapleton.
