After a thrilling 2 point win last round against Parkside, our team provided
another nail-biter with a 21 point all draw against Ivanhoe. Our opponents
were much improved on our last meeting and for most of the first half
demonstrated better run, skills and desire to deserve a 14 point lead at the
break.
After half time, our team lifted and worked our way back into the game with
not too much reward until Will kicked a goal and put us within 7 points
right on three-quarter time.
We dominated the final quarter and pushed hard to make up the deficit, first
with a point and then a goal to level the scores. The last few minutes saw
an arm wrestle with neither team willing to surrender and a draw was
probably a fitting result.
Congratulations to Tom and Oliver who both contributed well in their 50th
game for the club. Lachlan Spencer celebrated his first goal and Will
providing the other two goals. Josh Collins and Josh Jackson, were heroic
throughout with Josh Collins returning from a blood nose to play a typically
strong game. Conor showed a lot of dash and skill and never stopped trying
to get the ball forward in difficult conditions. Blake was typically
resolute in defence, laying one of his legendary tackles in the third
quarter. Ben provided one of games’s highlights with a “screamer” in the
centre of the ground.
We now go into a challenging few weeks with a number of games against teams
around us on the ladder, we currently sit third, a result that flatters us-
the future is in our hands.
