On a cold and wet Pitcher Park, our boys won a “must win” game by 2 points. It was a brave and committed four quarter effort and every player should be proud of their role in the result.
A goal down at quarter time, 5 points up at half time and after two very late goals to Parkside in the third quarter, 7 points down at three-quarter time and the challenge was on. Parkside pushed early in the last quarter but our defence continued to hold firm.
A goal to Jackson put us within four points and then Biggsy put us in front with three minutes to play. Once again Parkside pushed forward but our backline was up to the task and the final siren came as a relief to us all. As I have said, we had 21 contributors all over the field, but Oliver, Joel, Biggsy and Lachlan Perillo's efforts through the midfield was critical to the result as were Will’s two goals in the first half.
Josh Collins led the back line well supported by Ed, Stewart, Calvin, and Nelson. With a week off before we meet Ivanhoe, we are in a position to build on a promising last two weeks.
