The anniversary of the passing of favourite son Mick Nolan heralds great anticipation and desire in the Mayne Tiger’s Den with the annual awarding of the Mick Nolan medal for the best and fairest Mayne Tiger this weekend at the home game against Noosa. The game is played at the closest scheduled home game to Mick’s passing and all players consider this one of the most prestigious awards that the club will bestow in any given season.
The day is also further celebrated now as the annual reunion for all Mayne Tigers, but this year particular emphasis is placed on the following teams of yesteryear, the 1973 Mayne First 18 Premiership team, the 1973 Mayne Colts Premiership team, the 1963 Mayne Colts Premiership team and the 1993 Mayne First 18 finalists.
The club has been advised that players are booked to come in from all around the country for this special occasion to enjoy tales of daring do, some true and some perhaps expanded as the years have passed.
The Mayne Tigers welcomes all past players and supporters to this year’s biggest round of the year at the Den, Mott Street, Enoggera. Carn the Tigers!!
