A packed clubhouse at Gore Hill Oval saw our coaches and captains for the 2013 season announced.
Numbers at training have been positive during the pre-season. We will be fielding teams in Premier Division, Division One, Division Four and Under 18s in 2013. The vibe around the club is positive, the players have been training hard and we have high hopes for a successful season.
Jamie O'Dell will again be coaching the Under 18s this season. He has named three captains, Matt Varjavandi, Tom Plant and Jake Monk; and anticipates that all three will play senior football in 2013.
Division Four have had a welcome increase in numbers, and a great spirit in the group. Nick Adams will again coach the team this season, with Tim "Bobby" Beissman appointed captain.
New Division One coach Phil Bourne has plenty of reason to be optimistic about the season ahead; with a strong playing list and plenty of players vying for senior honours. There will not be a permanent captain for that grade, the captain instead being appointed week to week and pushing for Premier Division selection.
Senior coach Jon Hayres (pictured with club President Liz Fitzgerald), in his second season at the helm in Premier Division, reflected on the culture we arre building as a family club and a culture that players will strongly identify with. Ron Wason has been re-appointed captain for 2013; with Sam Carruthers and Chris Murphy appointed as vice-captains.
The players have trained strongly, and we're pumped and ready for what we hope will be a successful 2013 season for the North Shore Australian Football Club.
