It’s finals time, the business end of the season. And for North Shore, a crunch game against Pennant Hills.
Premier Division Qualifying Final
Saturday 3:15pm – North Shore v Pennant Hills – Henson Park.
Henson Park
Henson Park is on Sydenham Road, Marrickville.
To get there, go through the city, then head along Broadway, turning left at City Road. Go through King St Newtown, and near the station at the fork in the road, take the Enmore Road turn. Continue straight ahead onto Victoria St.
Turn right at Sydenham Road, and the light towers will be visible on the right. Take the driveway into the ground, there is plenty of parking on site.
To get there by public transport, get the train to the city and catch the red M30 Metrobus from York St (if you’re coming from the north-east, that route starts at Spit Junction). The bus will take you to the corner of Victoria St and Sydenham Road, just a couple of blocks from the ground.

Dressing Room & Interchange Area
North Shore have been allocated the home dressing room and interchange area.
As there is a Womens’ Grand Final on immediately before our game, North Shore players and officials are not to enter the rooms until after the womens’ players have returned to the field after half time (likely to be shortly after 2pm).
All teams are only allowed 4 officials (coaches) and medical staff and water runners on the sideline.
Our Opponents
It’s an instant chance for revenge for North Shore. We will be taking on Pennant Hills, the team who denied us the minor premiership at Gore Hill last Saturday.
Last year North Shore knocked the Demons out of the finals; and although this game isn’t sudden death, we’ll be keen to land another finals win against the Demons in this clash. We’ve got a strong team for this game, who have been training hard during the week – we’re ready for this challenge.
What the Result Would Mean
If North Shore wins, we’ll go through to the Major Semi-Final on Saturday 8th September at Blacktown International Sportspark; taking on UNSW-ES for a spot in the Grand Final.
If North Shore loses, we’ll be in the Minor Semi-Final on Sunday 9th September, also at Blacktown International Sportspark, against the winner of the Balmain v St George game. The loser of that game is eliminated.
If it’s a draw, there’ll be two periods of extra time, 5 minutes plus time-on; if still level it’s golden point and the siren won’t sound until there’s been a score.
Online Coverage
For those who can’t get to Henson Park, the match will be streamed live online through the Sydney AFL website. Click on www.sydneyafl.com.au and follow the AFL Sydney TV link.
Score updates will also be posted on the North Shore website at www.northshorefc.com.au through the afternoon.
But if you can possibly get to Henson Park, be there in your black and red, vocal and passionate. A large contingent of supporters cheering the North Shore players on will go a long way towards lifting the Bombers to victory.
