The Hamilton Wildcats AFC would like to congratulate and recognize Club veteran Charles Thompson on reaching yet another Club/career milestone in 2011. This past weekend, Charles kicked his 200th career OAFL goal in the victory over the Toronto Eagles, and continues to extend the Club's career goalkicking mark with each tally. Not only did his goal last weekend set a new career milestone for the 5-time Club Goal Kicking Award Winner, but it also turned out to the be the winning goal in their massive victory against the talented Toronto Eagles, as Hamilton won by 5 points. Ironically, Charles' first OAFL goal was versus the Eagles back in 2000, in a very lopsided 177-7 loss. It's only fitting that this milestone marker came against the same Club he kicked his first, but this time the 'Cats were on the psoitive side of the score. Over the years, Hamilton has had a few tough seasons finishing winless, or missing the Finals for 8 consecutive season; so Charles' individual performances on the field sometimes was lost. In 2006, Charles finished 2nd in the OAFL Goal Kicking race, finishing with 42 goals on the year, 3 behind eventual winner Ben Carter (Broadview Hawks). He's also had (2) 20+ goal seasons, (3) 30+ goal seasons (including 37 in '05), and his career high 42 in '06. The Club and all our players would like to congratulate Charles on reaching the new mark, and we look forward to seeing this new Club record of 200 goals continue to grow in season to come. Kudos mate!!!
